Welcome to the Windham NH Town Website

The thriving bedroom community of Windham consistently maintains its rural, open character with large areas of open space and conservation land throughout, while welcoming influxes of economic development. It is considered to be one of several affluent small towns located in Rockingham County. It is a short drive to Salem, Derry and the states largest city of Manchester. It offers the benefits of living in a small town with the comfort of it being close to shopping, entertainment and numerous cultural attractions.

Scottish immigrants settled the area in 1719, but the town was not incorporated until 1742. Historic landmarks in Windham include the Searles School, Searles Castle the town center and the Armstrong Memorial Building. Searles Castle is one of Windham’s most prominent landmarks. Edward F. Searles, an interior decorator and antique collector, built the castle. The building was completed in 1915 at a cost of over $1,250,000. The castle contains over 20 rooms and is available to the public to be rented out for functions and events.
